On the 11th of November 2022, the Cascais Naval Club hosted a distinguished Wine Dinner showcasing the wines from Monte das Herdades.

This exclusive event brought together members of the Cascais Naval Club, wine connoisseurs, and enthusiasts, who had the opportunity to sample these distinctive and memorable wines.

The bespoke menu, curated by Chef Rafael Pombeiro and Sommelier Manuel Moreira, was designed to create the perfect harmony between the selected wines and the crafted dishes. Three wines from the Monte das Herdades brand were served: Monte das Herdades Chardonnay 2020, Monte das Herdades Pinot Noir 2020, and Monte das Herdades Sparkling Rosé Brut Nature 2020. All were met with high praise from the guests, who lauded the wines’ quality and character.

The Monte das Herdades Chardonnay 2020 is a pale yellow wine with greenish hues, offering a delicate aroma of nectarines infused with lemon and a hint of toasted hazelnut. Its crisp palate, persistent acidity, and subtly integrated oak made it the perfect match for the shrimp bisque, marinated coastal prawn, and seaweed served as the starter.

The Monte das Herdades Pinot Noir 2020, a ruby red wine with crimson undertones, boasts a complex aroma of ripe black plum and mint, with subtle exotic hints of oriental tea and pepper. Its pleasing, enveloping, and full-bodied palate, balanced with soft tannins and refreshing acidity, elegantly complemented the main course of black pork shoulder, migas, cabbage purée, and Portuguese sauce.

Lastly, the Monte das Herdades Sparkling Rosé Brut Nature 2020, with its attractive pale pink hue and salmon nuances, features fine, persistent bubbles and an aroma of hibiscus petals with fresh cherry notes. Its persistent, fresh mouthfeel and marked acidity made it a standout pairing with the dessert of traditional rice pudding, poached pear, and almond crumble.

The event was a resounding success, marking the official launch of the Monte das Herdades wines.
