Sandra Alves brings over two decades of experience, shaped by excellence at Herdade do Esporão. Now serving as Director of Winemaking at Monte das Herdades, she challenges the status quo by blending tradition and innovation to create unique organic wines that reflect the essence and authenticity of the Alentejo region.

From a young age, Sandra had close contact with vineyards in Vila Real. Trained in Enology at UTAD and the Portuguese Catholic University, she has built a solid career both in Portugal and internationally, notably at Wise Eagle Bay in Australia.

At Herdade do Esporão, Sandra led the production of both white and red wines, earning international recognition and implementing sustainable practices. Now at Monte das Herdades, she faces a new challenge: working with a garden vineyard, introducing varietals such as Pinot Noir and Malbec to Alentejo, while maintaining 100% organic production.

Sandra Alves aims to enhance the unique expression of each plot, combining traditional methods with innovative techniques. Her international experience and commitment to sustainability are crucial in creating superior quality wines that reflect the authenticity of Alentejo.

Under Sandra Alves’ leadership, Monte das Herdades promises to stand out for excellence and innovation, while respecting the winegrowing traditions of the region.
